The Scottish Premiership is set to return this weekend following a three week international break, with Celtic and Rangers battling it out for a place at the top of the tree.
It’s been an intriguing start to the new campaign, with Derek McInnes’ side stuttering badly at the beginning, before a consistent run of wins led them to back-to-back Old Firm victories over Celtic, who are without a win in their last three games in all competitions.
While the window is closed, the free agent market could still play a part for many other Scottish Premiership clubs before January, with several players still available on free transfers.
But how many free agents are Scottish Premiership stars of the past? Here are 10 former Scottish Premiership players available for free and still searching for new clubs this season.

1. Beni Baningime
The former Hearts midfielder was a fan favourite at Tynecastle, and was a major player in last season's title push. Among several others, he departed upon the expiry of his contract in the summer, but is surprisingly still without a club. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

2. Kelle Roos
Joining on a free transfer from Derby County in 2022, the Dutch goalkeeper was initially a fans' favourite at Aberdeen after helping the club claim a third-place finish. However, opinion shifted drastically during his second year due to several error-strewn performances. He departed to sign for Serie C side Triestina. He made a temporary return to the Scottish Premiership last season by signing for Kilmarnock on loan, but was released by his parent club Notts County last month and is still searching for his next move.

3. Matty Kennedy
The Northern Ireland international enjoyed spells with Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Kilmarnock, and also represented Hibs earlier in his career. He spent three years at Rugby Park after arriving from Aberdeen in 2023, but was released in the summer after a spate of injuries curtailed his progress. Just 31, he is a free agent. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

4. Vicente Besuijen
The Dutch winger showed flashes of quality at Aberdeen before falling out of favour and spending time on loan with HJK and FC Emmen. Released at Pittodrie in the summer, Besuijen is still searching for his next club. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group
