Scotland’s return to the world stage is now just days away, with Steve Clarke’s men kicking off their campaign against Haiti in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Almost three decades on from their last appearance at the World Cup, excitement has been whipped up across the country ever since the dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden secured the nation’s place at the tournament, and now the big day is almost here.
While it may have been some time since Scotland’s last appearance at the World Cup, it hasn’t been anywhere near as long since they last played at a major tournament, with Clarke leading the team to qualification at both Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. So while Scotland head to the United States with no World Cup experience in their ranks, they do have a total of 62 major tournament appearances amongst them.
But which player has the most major tournament experience in the Scotland squad? Here is Scotland’s full 26-man World Cup squad ranked on major tournament appearances.

9. Scott McKenna - 4
The big centre-back has four major tournament appearances to his name, although only one of them was a start. He played the full 90 minutes against Hungary at Euro 2024, with his other three appearances coming off the substitutes bench. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

10. Anthony Ralston - 3
Started all three of Scotland's group games at Euro 2024, making the Celtic the nation's most experienced right-back at a major tournament. | Getty Images

11. Lyndon Dykes - 3
Dykes missed the entirety of Euro 2024 due to an ankle injury he picked up on the eve of the tournament, but was a major player at the previous European Championship, featuring in all three games. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

12. Angus Gunn - 3
The Nottingham Forest goalkeeper has the number one jersey at the World Cup, much like he did at Euro 2024 where he started all three of Scotland's group stage fixtures. | Getty Images
