Scotland’s return to the world stage is now just days away, with Steve Clarke’s men kicking off their campaign against Haiti in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Almost three decades on from their last appearance at the World Cup, excitement has been whipped up across the country ever since the dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden secured the nation’s place at the tournament, and now the big day is almost here.
While it may have been some time since Scotland’s last appearance at the World Cup, it hasn’t been anywhere near as long since they last played at a major tournament, with Clarke leading the team to qualification at both Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. So while Scotland head to the United States with no World Cup experience in their ranks, they do have a total of 62 major tournament appearances amongst them.
But which player has the most major tournament experience in the Scotland squad? Here is Scotland’s full 26-man World Cup squad ranked on major tournament appearances.

15. Nathan Patterson - 1

16. Craig Gordon - 0
Despite being the most experienced player in Scotland's squad at 43 years old, the Hearts goalkeeper has not played a single minute of major tournament football. Named in the squad for Euro 2020, he occupied the bench with David Marshall preferred as the number one stopper. | Getty Images
