Scotland’s return to the world stage is now just days away, with Steve Clarke’s men kicking off their campaign against Haiti in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Almost three decades on from their last appearance at the World Cup, excitement has been whipped up across the country ever since the dramatic 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden secured the nation’s place at the tournament, and now the big day is almost here.
While it may have been some time since Scotland’s last appearance at the World Cup, it hasn’t been anywhere near as long since they last played at a major tournament, with Clarke leading the team to qualification at both Euro 2020 and Euro 2024. So while Scotland head to the United States with no World Cup experience in their ranks, they do have a total of 62 major tournament appearances amongst them.
But which player has the most major tournament experience in the Scotland squad? Here is Scotland’s full 26-man World Cup squad ranked on major tournament appearances.

6. Jack Hendry - 4
The experienced centre-back began Euro 2020 as Clarke's first choice, but lost his place for the games against England and Croatia. Regained his place come Euro 2024, where he started all three of Scotland's group fixtures, playing the full 90 minutes in each. | AFP via Getty Images

7. Ryan Christie - 4
Despite feeling like a veteran for Scotland, it may surprise some to note that he has only started two of his four major tournament appearances. He was in the starting XI for the game against Czechia at Euro 2020. He also started against Germany at Euro 2024, and later off the bench late in the games against Switzerland and Hungary. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

8. Kieran Tierney - 4
Named in the last two Euros squads, Tierney has played a prominent role for Scotland in both major tournaments. He missed the Euro 2020 opening game vs Czechia with injury, and the game against Hungary at Euro 2024 for the same reason. | Getty Images
