Aberdeen sanction exit

Aberdeen have allowed out-of-favour striker Peter Ambrose to leave the club after agreeing a deal with Swiss outfit Neuchâtel Xamax. The 24-year-old striker spent two years at Pittodrie but struggled to make an impact, appearing just 23 times for the Dons after his arrival from Ujpest.

Having spent last season back in Hungary with Diosgyor on loan, Aberdeen have sanctioned a permanent exit for the Nigerian, with head coach Stephen Robinson wishing him well for the future. “Peter has found regular first-team football difficult to come by for some time,” he said. “So we felt this was the right opportunity for him to move on and play more regularly. When we spoke during the summer, we agreed that we would look to find a permanent solution that worked for both Peter and Aberdeen. He now has the opportunity to join a team who have started the season strongly and compete for regular first-team football.”

Dundee snag Scotland starlet

Dundee are closing in on a move for highly rated Scotland youth international Bobby Wales, with the Swansea City striker set to return to the Premiership on a loan deal until the end of the campaign. The 21-year-old rose to prominence as a teenager with Kilmarnock during the 2024/25 season, scoring five goals in 34 appearances, and was snapped up by the EFL Championship side last summer after his contract at Rugby Park expired.

However, Wales struggled to play regular first-team football and ended the season on loan to third-tier side Huddersfield Town, but only made six appearances. Once viewed as one of Scotland’s most promising striking talents, the youngster now looks set to return to his home country after Dundee head coach Steven Pressley struck a deal for the marksman.

According to Daily Record journalist Scott Burns, Dundee hope to have beaten off competition from Motherwell and EFL League Two sides Reading, Cambridge United and Stevenage for the striker, with head coach Pressley hoping to complete the deal in time for this weekend’s derby clash against Dundee United.

Rangers given encouragement

Rangers are edging closer to a deal for Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy, with the Venezuelan having agreed to the Ibrox club’s proposals ahead of a £7.4million switch. The 22-year-old striker emerged as a target last week, with manager Derek McInnes eager to add another striker to his squad after seeing key forward Youssef Chermiti struck down with an ACL injury in the 2-1 defeat to Hibs.

Standing at 6ft 4in, the young forward developed into one of the MLS’ most exciting young players this season, bagging 10 goals and three assists in just 21 appearances, which have caught the attention of Rangers in recent weeks. While Portland are reluctant to lose their key striker in the middle of the season, a report from journalist Adrian Garces claims that Kelsy has already ‘enthusiastically accepted’ and is ready to move across the pond to sign for Rangers ahead of the deadline.

Meanwhile, Rangers are on the verge of completing a loan deal for Aston Villa right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic this week, with the club hopeful of including him in the squad for the Conference League playoff clash with Jablonec on Thursday night. The 20-year-old Serbian international will bolster the club’s options at right-back, with the transfer thought to include a £4million obligation to buy at the end of the campaign based on appearances.

Celtic advance on deal

Celtic are advancing on a deal for long-term midfield target Niko Sigur, with reports claiming the Canadian international has his heart set on joining the club from Hajduk Split this summer. The 22-year-old was first linked to the Scottish champions in January, and that interest ramped up after his impressive performance at this summer’s World Cup.

Capable of playing in midfield and at right-back, Sigur is said to be valued at around the £3million mark by the Croatian club and would fill the void left by Arne Engels following his £22million move to West Ham United at the weekend. According to reports, the two clubs are edging closer to agreeing a deal that will see the Canadian move to Parkhead before the deadline. However, Split would prefer that any move be placed 'on hold' due to their involvement in the Conference League playoffs.

Elsewhere, Celtic remain in talks with EFL Championship side Blackburn Rovers over a £4million deal for Hungarian stopper Balazs Toth. The retirement of Kasper Schmeichel has left manager Martin O’Neill short on options between the sticks, with Ross Doohan the only experienced option in reserve to regular number one Viljami Sinisalo, and the veteran boss is keen to strengthen.
