Rangers return on cards this summer as forgotten 22 y/o makes pledge over Ibrox future
The Rangers youngster is set to return to Ibrox this summer.
Forgotten Rangers winger Ross McCausland has told the club he is ready to fight for his future at Ibrox with his loan move to Aris Limassol not expected to be made permanent this summer.
According to reports, the 22-year-old’s time in the Cypriot First Division is set to come to an end this month, with the Northern Ireland international understood to not be keen on a permanent move, despite featuring regularly at the Alphamega Stadium.
Deemed surplus to requirements by former head coach Russell Martin following his appointment in the summer, the winger linked up with former Rangers teammates Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun when he completed a season-long loan move to Limassol in August, and the deal was understood to include a conditional obligation to buy, but reports claim this has now been quashed.

“I wish my time at Rangers would have went better but that wasn’t the case,” admitted McCausland earlier this season. “Minutes is something I need at my age and I wasn’t getting that at Rangers. I had a good chat with Russell [Martin] when he came in and that was the decision we made, and I’m glad we made that decision.”
He went on to feature regularly for his new club and made a positive early impression after scoring in three consecutive games in September, helping his side go top of the table. However, both player and club have tailed off in recent months, with Aris Limassol falling to sixth in the table and McCausland finding the net just once more.
About to enter the final year of his contract at Rangers, the upcoming summer transfer window could prove to be a decisive one for the Antrim-native, but reports in Cyprus claim McCausland has already informed the club that he wants to fight for his future at the club, and this was backed up by an exclusive interview he had with the Rangers Review earlier this week.
“Watching from afar definitely has been different for me,” McCausland explained. “It’s something I want to be a part, but I’ve came out to Cyprus to play football, which I have. I’ve bagged a lot of minutes this season, which is good for me with the stage I’m at. But when you’re watching the games, and you see the atmosphere. When I’ve had a couple of days off, me and Leon [Balogun] have talked about maybe coming over for the games. Obviously with the flights and everything going on, it wasn’t possible.
“To play for a club like Rangers, not only do you have to want to play for the club, you have to believe you’re good enough to play for the club. At this stage of the season, where I know I’ll be going back to start pre-season [with Rangers], all I can do is try and leave the best impression I can.
“Listen, I’d love it to work out, but if it doesn’t you need to build yourself to know that you need to go somewhere else and try and make a career there. Football is a funny game, maybe things don’t go your way, but there’s always ways to make a career and all you need to do is give your best.”
