Rangers' hopes of reaching the Europa League knock-out stage took another huge blow after falling to a fourth successive defeat as Roma ran out 2-0 winners at Ibrox.
First-half strikes from Matías Soulé (13) and Lorenzo Pellegrini (36) silenced a frustrated Ibrox crowd early on, sealed a comfortable win for the Italian giants and left Rangers head coach Danny Rohl to pick the bones of a damaging defeat which left the home crowd dissatisfied and disgruntled.
The result means Rohl’s side remain rock bottom of the Europa League table on zero points, with early elimination from a competition they’ve reached the quarter-final of in two of the last four seasons now looking very likely.
The Rangers boss will now turn his attention back to the Scottish Premiership as he looks to secure a third consecutive league victory and lift spirits against Dundee at Dens Park this Sunday. Meanwhile, tonight’s opponents Roma will return to Glasgow in just 35 days, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side Celtic’s next Europa League visitors on December 11.

Made a strong save from Soule in the 21st minute. Little he could do about the goals. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

2. James Tavernier - 5
Moved position to centre-back, which seemed to stunt Rangers in an attacking sense. That said, his piece delivery was lacklustre and he lost the ball in dangerous places more often than he'd like. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

3. John Souttar - 5
Like his defensive teammates, he had a poor night, with the Rangers defence looking unable to cope with Roma's attacking threat. Poor for the second goal, making it easy for Dovbyk to tee up Pellegrini. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

4. Nasser Djiga - 4
Played on the left-hand side of a back three, but continues to look unconvincing. Completely lost his man for the corner that saw Roma open the scoring. Another poor summer signing, which is causing Kevin Thewell's position to be called into question by the Rangers supporters. | PA Photo: PA
