Rangers launch 'concrete' offer for 20 y/o international midfielder labelled as 'modern leader'

Rangers make transfer offer for highly rated young captain.

Rangers are hoping to continue their squad overhaul with the signing of highly rated midfielder Vanja Dragojevic after launching a bid for the Serbian international.

According to reports in the player’s homeland, Rangers have submitted a ‘concrete’ offer to Partizan Belgrade for the defensive midfielder, and are hoping the fee will tempt the SuperLiga side to sell the youngster ahead of the new season as head coach Derek McInnes continues his rebuild of the squad at Ibrox.

Dragojevic, 20, is one of Partizan Belgrade’s most highly rated talents. He has been described as a ‘modern leader’ by Serbian outlets, having been handed the vice-captaincy just months after making his professional debut for the Parni Valjak, where he is one of the youngest members of their squad.

Spending time on loan with affiliate club Teleoptik during the 2024/25 campaign, Dragojevic first rose to prominence after being recalled to Partizan's first team by manager Srdan Blagojevic in the latter half of the campaign, making his professional debut for the club in March 2025. He quickly developed into a regular starter in the midfield and earned widespread praise from local media for his early performances.

Asked directly about the club’s decision to install him as the vice captain, the midfielder said: “It is an incredible honour, but with it comes massive responsibility. In Partizan, you cannot hide behind your age. If you are on the pitch, and especially if you are leading, you have to stand at the front and take the hits for the team.

“The least I care about is being called a leader or anything like that. I just want to be a part of a team that knows how to win, that fights, and where everyone gives their maximum. That is the only thing that interests me. The Partizan crest demands that you leave everything on the pitch. You cannot be quiet out there. Leadership isn't about looking good; it's about making sure your teammate next to you doesn't drop his intensity for even a single second."

The 6ft midfielder has been capped twice by his national team, having made his debut for the Serbian senior side as a late substitute in a 3-0 friendly defeat to Cape Verde last month. He earned his first start shortly afterwards when he was included in Dragan Stojkovic’s starting XI for the game with Mexico at the Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca earlier this month.

Should Rangers be able to agree a deal for the talented Partizan player, he will become the club’s sixth signing of an already busy summer, following the arrivals of Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur and Dan Neil.
