'I'm really enjoying...': Rangers star reveals reason for red-hot Ibrox form amid admission on new arrivals
The Rangers attacker is in a rich vein of form
Rangers playmaker Thelo Aasgaard believes the reason for his dramatic turnaround in form at Ibrox is due in part to factors off the pitch following his starring role in the 1-0 Europa League victory over Ludogorets on Thursday.
The 23-year-old endured a sluggish start to life in Glasgow, scoring just once in his first 12 appearances for the club following his £3.5million arrival from Luton Town in the summer. However, the Norwegian international is thriving following the appointment of head coach Danny Rohl, and has exploded into life over the past month.
The Liverpool-born midfielder added another goal contribution to his impressive tally in Thursday’s 1-0 win over Ludogorets, teeing up Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomande in the 33rd minute for the only goal of the game. His fifth goal contribution in his last seven games in all competitions, Aasgaard lifted the lid on the reasons why he has begun to flourish in Govan, and admits he thinks the best is still to come from him and his teammates.
“We've had to be resilient,” said Aasgaard. “We've been through some tough patches together, so I think that's made us stronger. I'm really happy with where we are. The feeling is really good at the minute. It's still the same lads, but we've got a really solid mindset together. We're a real group, we feel that, even off the pitch. You can see it [confidence] in all the players. The fans can see it, we feel it and hopefully we carry it on.

“I'm really enjoying the city in general, really enjoying life outside. Once I'm settled there, then my football on the pitch usually echoes it. I've built up a bit of momentum and I hope to keep that going. We're in a good place at the minute. I feel like we'll do as well as we can and get stronger.”
Head coach Rohl was unable to include new boys Tochi Chukwuani, Tuur Rommens, and Andreas Skov Olsen in the win over Ludogorets, with the trio unable to be registered in Rangers’ Europa League squad, but Aasgaard thinks fans have every reason to be excited about their arrival, admitting it’s what the squad needs to help them become the best version of themselves.
“They're all really good players,” said Aasgaard. “I'm sure the fans can get really excited by that. Competition for places is obviously important, so it's raised everyone else as well. I really feel that, including myself. I think we can definitely go up the level. Like I said, we won 1-0 [against Ludogorets], but we probably should have won more. Hopefully, we can bring that on in the future. We made it a bit hard for ourselves. We take the three points, and I'm really happy for the fans to get that first win in Europe.”
