Danny Rohl makes Rangers transfer vow as he explains reason behind two moves
Rangers boss Danny Rohl has handed fans an update on transfers after the 5-0 win over Annan Athletic.
Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has revealed he wants to add more signings before the end of the transfer window after confirming the loan signing of Andreas Skov Olsen on Friday night.
The 36-year-old boss watched his side chalk up their sixth consecutive win as Bojan Miovski bagged his first hat-trick for the club in a 5-0 victory over Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox, with Kieran Dowell and Thelo Aasgaard also netting in the second-half.
The biggest news of the day came before kick-off, though, with the club confirming the loan arrival of Wolfsburg winger Skov Olsen. The Denmark international becomes Rangers’ third signing of the January window following the arrival of Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens earlier in the week - and Rohl admits there could be more to follow in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

“I think in general it was a good week for us,” said Rohl. “We signed three players, and today, with Andy [Skov Olsen], is the next one. He gives us experience, he gives us a different profile on the right side with the left foot, and he can score. All in all, I'm very happy, I'm proud of what we do at the moment, but we have to be on front foot, we cannot do less.
“We have to be more and more, we are hungry, all in all you feel it at the moment, and there is big confidence back. There is a pride back, but for this we have to work hard that we continue like this in the next couple of weeks and on Monday we start in a busy time. It's difficult to say exactly the numbers [of transfers he wants], but I'm still positive that there will come more players.”
The club also confirmed the departure of midfielder Lyall Cameron early in the day, with the 22-year-old moving to Pittodrie on a loan deal until the end of the season after struggling for regular game time. While the likes of Joe Rothwell, Kieran Dowell, and Findlay Curtis all started the clash against minnows Annan on Friday, the trio have been linked with January departures. Rohl discussed how the club plans to manage their outgoings.
“We have to look at what makes sense for the group,” said Rohl. “I think in the middle of February we have more normal weeks. I think it changes a little bit, you have less rotations, if you have a team that is really running then I will keep running, then you have some positions where you rotate and you look at what you need for the next opponent.
“In this case you have to look at what makes sense to give players opportunities in other places, I think for Lyall it's a good opportunity to get minutes, for us it's helpful as well. In this case we go forward.”
Rohl also detailed a conversation he had with a Rangers fan over their pride for the way the team is performing under him.
“There was a supporter who told me that again for the first time that we are proud and you bring the pride back, I think I like this,” added Rohl. “But this is my responsibility, I know in our club the demand is always high and we have to be on the front foot, if we are less on the front foot and we take another result, it could also change quick. And in this case I take it very positively now, but I know also the responsibility is to take the next results as soon as possible.”
