Scott McTominay and Scotland rival share smile after Serie A dust-up amid World Cup disappointment
Napoli stars warm up for World Cup duty with win over Scotland team-mate who missed out on selection
Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour warmed up for World Cup duty with Scotland by helping Napoli secure a runners-up finish in Serie A with a 1-0 win over Udinese on Sunday.
McTominay, as he so often does, played the full match while Gilmour came off the bench after 37 minutes to replace the injured Stanislav Lobotka on the final matchday of the Italian season.
The midfield duo will now report for international duty this week as preparations for Scotland's first World Cup finals in 28 years get underway with a friendly against Curacao at Hampden next Saturday.

McTominay and Gilmour were joined on the pitch by Scotland colleague Lennon Miller, the Udinese midfielder, who spoke pre-match about his despondency at missing out on Steve Clarke's World Cup squad.
"It was obviously disappointing not to get in the squad," the 19-year-old told BBC Alba. "But the manager has got such a tough job to pick 26 people. I know that the midfield has so many good players and is the hardest place to get into. It was disappointing but I'll be rooting for the boys in the summer and hopefully they can do really well."
The match was a notable one for Miller as he completed the full 90 minutes for the first time in Serie A on his 24th appearance in the Italian top flight since making the £4.75million move from Motherwell last summer.
It was also an emotional game for Napoli who were playing their final match under departing head coach Antonio Conte. Last season’s scudetto-winning boss was given a victorious send-off from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium thanks to a first-half strike from Rasmus Hojlund with Udinese reduced to 10 men in the 64th minute following a red card for Christian Kabasele.
Miller picked up a booking in the final minute of the match following a tussle with McTominay.
The teenager grappled with his Scotland team-mate before pulling on his shirt to send him tumbling to the deck before being shown a yellow card. Both players were seen smiling after the minor dust-up as they shared a warm handshake.
McTominay had a glorious chance to make the win more convincing for Napoli but uncharacteristically blasted over the bar from close range after excellent set up work by Hojlund.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Che Adams scored a late equaliser for Torino to secure a 2-2 home draw with Juventus in the Turin derby. Adams came off the bench in the second half and netted with a deflected effort in the 84th minute for his eighth goal of the season.
Lewis Ferguson signed off his season at Bologna with an entertaining 3-3 draw against champions Inter Milan with the Scotland midfielder playing the entire match.
Kieron Bowie was on the losing side as already-relegated Hellas Verona went down to a 2-0 at home to Roma after being reduced to 10 men. Josh Doig was an unused substitute as Sassuolo ended the season with a 1-0 defeat at Parma.
