Scotland World Cup squad: 26-man list in full as Steve Clarke names 11-goal wildcard amid Serie A omissions

First call-up in four years for striker as Serie A duo miss out

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke has named a wildcard striker in his World Cup squad by calling up Ross Stewart for the first time in four years.

The 29-year-old has scored 11 goals in 33 games for Southampton this season, including one in the Championship play-off semi-final win against Middlesbrough. He is due to feature in the play-off final against Hull City at Wembley on Saturday.

There is also a spot for 19-year-old Rangers winger Findlay Curtis following an excellent loan spell at Kilmarnock where he netted five times in 14 appearances. The youngster keeps his place in the squad after earning his first cap against Japan in March.

Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon earns a call-up at the age of 43 after recovering from injury while Bournemouth winger Ben Gannon-Doak also returns after missing the March friendlies due to injury.

Star men Scott McTominay, John McGinn and captain Andy Robertson are all included but there is no place in the squad for midfielder Lennon Miller, who made 22 appearances for Udinese in Serie A this season.

Kieron Bowie also misses out despite scoring five times for Hellas Verona in the Italian top flight including recent strikes away at Juventus and Inter Milan following his £7million move from Hibs in January.

Middlesbrough forward Tommy Conway, 23, has been ruled out of the World Cup through injury.

Scotland open their World Cup campaign against Haiti in Boston on June 14 then face Morocco at the same venue on June 19 before concluding the group stage against Brazil in Miami on June 24.

Clarke's side will face Curacao in a Hampden send-off friendly on May 30 then play their final warm-up game against Bolivia in New Jersey on June 6.
