Scotland World Cup squad announcement: Here's when Steve Clarke will name his 26-man squad and how to watch live
Here’s when Scotland boss Steve Clarke will announced his squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Excitement for this summer’s World Cup goes up a notch in Scotland this week, with head coach Steve Clarke set to name his squad for the tournament.
Set to take part in the tournament for the first time in 1998, the Tartan Army are expected to travel to North America in their thousands to cheer on the team in their Group C fixtures against Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil.
Looking to make the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time in their history, Clarke has already submitted 55 names to FIFA for his provisional release list last week, which will be narrowed down to a final 26-man group for the tournament, which takes place across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The debate surrounding which players should be heading to the tournament has raged for several weeks, but those arguments will cease later this week as fans discover which players have booked their place on the plane to the World Cup.

Can players be replaced in squad for the World Cup?
Once Clarke has named his squad for the tournament, those 26 names are locked in. However, there are some circumstances where the player can be replaced. For example, squad adjustments can be made in the case of serious injury or illness - they are not permitted for tactical or performance adjustments.
Any outfield player can be replaced at any point up to 24 hours before the national team’s first game at the World Cup should they suffer a serious injury, or illness. However, once a team has played its opening game, no outfield players can be swapped out, regardless of any tournament-ending injuries.
Goalkeepers operate under a slightly different standard. If a goalkeeper on the final 26-player roster is forced out of the squad due to a serious injury or illness, they can be replaced at any point during the tournament.
The replacement player cannot be just anyone; they must come from the country's initial 55-player provisional list submitted to FIFA weeks prior to the tournament.
