A week is a long time in politics - and it seems like an eternity since Sir Keir Starmer became Prime Minister following a Labour landslide at the General Election in July 2024.
Recent polls now show Nigel Farage’s Reform Party leading the way with British voters, although there’s a long way to go until the next mandatory General Election in August 2029 (that’s the latest date that it can be called).
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been weakened by a series of u-turns, the most recent of which has seen his government scrap plans to increase income tax.
And just last week there were (strenuously denied) claims that Wes Streeting is after his job, and there are rumbles of discontent amongst Labour backbenchers about his leadership.
It all inevitably leads to fevered speculation over whether Keir Starmer will lead Labour into the next election and, if not, who will take over as Prime Minister.
And then there’s the matter of who would win the election should Sir Keir still be in charge.
Here are the 13 current favourites to become next British Prime Minister.

13. Zack Polanski - 25/1
Green Party leader Zack Polanski has made a big impact in his short time in charge - around 130,000 new members have signed up since he was handed the job. It would take a political earthquake for him to get the keys to 10 Downing Street, yet the bookies have his odds at 'just' 25/1. | Getty Images
