The inaugural edition of international rugby’s latest competition gets underway this weekend with the Nations Championship kicking off.
Six matches will be played this Saturday with Argentina vs Scotland in Cordoba the final fixture of what looks set to be a thrilling first round. Gregor Townsend has some big selection calls to make in his team with a handful of recent regular starters unavailable for selection.
The likes of Grant Gilchrist, Huw Jones and Blair Kinghorn are not in the squad for various reasons but that could open the door for others to really cement themselves in their respective positions. Here is our predicted Scotland XV to take on Los Pumas:

1. Pierre Schoeman
Certain to retain his position as first choice loose-head with Glasgow duo Rory Sutherland and Nathan McBeth available as cover and replacement options | SNS Group

2. Ewan Ashman
Has developed as a leader with Edinburgh after an exceptional season at the Hive and, as he enters the prime of his career, the hope will be he can translate that to the international stage as well | SNS Group

3. Zander Fagerson
Still the undisputed best tight-head available to Scotland but depth in that position is growing with Elliot Millar Mills coming off the back of a Gallagher Premiership win with Northampton Saints | SNS Group

4. Scott Cummings
Injury derailed the second half of the 2025/26 season for the British & Irish Lion but he remains a key player and easy starting selection for club and country | SNS Group
