Scotland’s 2024 Six Nations campaign ended in defeat after going down 17-13 against Ireland in Dublin.
Gregor Townsend’s men put up a brave fight against one of the best teams in the world but eventually caved in to incessant Irish pressure in the second half, with tries from Dan Sheehan and Andrew Porter allowing the Irish to retain their title.
Scotland set up a grandstand finish of their own with a late Huw Jones try, but it was not enough in the end.
Here are the player ratings from Scotland’s last match of the campaign:

9. Ben White
Back in the team after being rested last weekend, the scrum-half was lively in the opening exchanges without having much opportunity to spark the attack. Made way for George Horne for final quarter. 6 Photo: Brian Lawless

10. Finn Russell
With the emphasis on solidity there was little opportunity for pyrotechnics and the stand-off led well in a disciplined defensive performance. Put a restart out on the full at one point but was three from three with his place-kicking to continue his excellent championship off the tee. Has missed only one kick at goal in five matches. 7 Photo: Charles McQuillan

11. Duhan van der Merwe
Never got going and gave away three penalties in opening quarter. Made important cover tackle on Garry Ringrose in second half but seldom seen in an attacking sense and Stuart Hogg’s try record remains just out of reach. 5 Photo: Charles McQuillan

12. Stafford McDowall
An excellent showing in his first Six Nations game. Particularly impressive in first-half with a brilliant line-break which left Bundee Aki in his wake. Solid defensively and should be very proud of performance. Replaced by Cam Repath after 61 minutes and the Bath man also showed up well. 7 Photo: Brian Lawless
