In its near 150 year history, the Melrose Sevens has seen more than its fair share of great teams take to the pitch at the Greenyards.
However, since the advent of the professional game, the full-time clubs have generally opted to send mainly development players to the Borders town when invited. That wasn’t the case in 2015 though when Glasgow Warriors bucked the trend with a stacked roster of talent.
The team included current and future Scotland internationals, Scotland Sevens regulars, a Fijian cult hero and one of the greatest players to ever take part in the shortened game. Here is the Warriors’ squad that stormed to victory at the 2015 Melrose Sevens:

1. Fraser Brown
Brown left Edinburgh for Glasgow the year before and went on to make over 100 appearances for Warriors while earning 61 caps for Scotland. He also came up against future Scotland and Glasgow hooker George Turner who was playing for Heriots | SNS Group/SRU

2. Finlay Gillies
Only managed 23 appearances for Warriors as injury curtailed his career but the hooker was a regular with Scotland 7s | SNS Group/SRU

3. James Eddie
The former Scotland 'A' international was the most experienced player in the Warriors squad on the day having been with the club since 2004. He was another regular feature in the Scotland 7s team during the early 2010s | SNS Group/SRU

4. Rory Hughes
The winger made his Scotland debut one year later and earned four caps. He was with Warriors from 2013 to 2020 and had loan spells with London Scottish and Leicester Tigers | SNS Group/SRU
