Glasgow Warriors eye new No 10 as Adam Hastings' Montpellier switch announced
Scotland stand-off remains ‘fully committed’ to Scotstoun club
Glasgow Warriors look set to be in the market for a new playmaker after confirming that Adam Hastings will leave the club at the end of the season.
The Scotland international stand-off has signed a two-year contract with Montpellier and will move to France in the summer, bringing to an end his second stint at Scotstoun.
Glasgow have stressed that Hastings remains “fully committed” to the Warriors for the remainder of this campaign as Franco Smith’s side chase glory on two fronts. They are through to the last 16 of the Investec Champions Cup and currently sit second in the United Rugby Championship table at the halfway point of the regular season.

Hastings, 29, was not involved in Saturday’s 33-21 win over Clermont in France in the Champions Cup, with Dan Lancaster playing at 10, but is expected to have a key role to play in the second half of the season.
Hastings rejoined Glasgow in summer 2024 after three years in the English Premiership with Gloucester whom he helped reach the Challenge Cup final. He has made 81 appearances for the Warriors across his two spells with the club, having initially joined them from Bath in 2017. He is one of only six players to have scored more than 500 points as a Glasgow Warriors player, reaching the landmark in the win over the Vodacom Bulls earlier this season.
‘Remains fully committed’
A statement from Glasgow Warriors said: “Glasgow Warriors can confirm that Adam Hastings will depart Scotstoun at the end of the season, after agreeing to join Montpellier on a two-year deal.
“Hastings remains fully committed to Glasgow Warriors for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, and the club wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”

Hastings’ move to Montpellier - which was first revealed in the French press at the end of last year - follows the news last week that another Glasgow No 10, Duncan Weir, had stepped back from playing duties. The experienced stand-off, also in his second spell, has taken a coaching role within the club’s senior academy.
Glasgow are now expected to move for a new fly-half to challenge Lancaster for the No 10 jersey.
Hastings, meanwhile, will join the Scottish international contingent at Montpellier which currently includes Stuart Hogg, Ali Price and Alex Masibaka.
Hogg has played 10 a number of times for Montpellier over the last two seasons, as has Argentine fly-half Domingo Miotti, another former Warriors player.
