The Scottish Premiership returns in just one week and Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Hibs are all still hoping to strengthen their squads with the season opener firmly on the horizon.
There are still approximately five weeks left in the summer transfer window; however, the clock is ticking as managers look to add those finishing touches to their squads for the 2026/27 campaign.
While every fan loves to see their club splash the cash on the next potential superstar, there are often lots of bargains to be found in the free agent market, with several players coming to the end of their contract in the summer and looking for their next challenge.
Here, The Scotsman looks at 13 of the best free agents still able to sign for clubs, including a five-time English Premier League title winner, a former £50million Manchester United favourite and a double promotion-winning left-back.
Would you like to see your club add any of these free agents to the squad in the coming weeks?

5. Jamie Vardy
Linked to both Rangers and Celtic last summer, the iconic former Leicester City man opted for a season in Italy with Cremonese instead. The 39-year-old found the net seven times last season, but was unable to prevent his side's relegation from Serie A. 6. Will Smallbone
A promotion winner with Southampton in 2024, the industrious midfielder has extension experience in the top two divisions in England, while he has also represented Republic of Ireland a total of 15 times. Still just 26, he's about to enter the prime of his career and would undoubtedly be a great free pick up for several clubs in the Scottish Premiership. | Getty Images

7. Dennis Cirkin
A double promotion winner with Sunderland, the talented Latvian defender has made over 120 senior appearances for the Black Cats after being snapped up from the Tottenham Hotspur academy as a teenager. Made 10 appearances in the English Premier League last term, and perhaps admirably. Has had issues with injuries, but at 24-years-old, he's still got his best years ahead of him. | Getty Images

8. Robby McCrorie
The former Rangers academy product had a strong season on loan to Esbjerg in the Danish second tier last season, and wanted to sign him permanently. However, the 28-year-old stopper is said to have his heart set on a return to Scotland. Out of contract after his Kilmarnock contract expired last month. Still available on a free transfer with little over a week until the start of the new season. | Getty Images
