The runaway leaders were pegged back in the second half by Matty Kennedy’s response from ten-man Aberdeen for a nervous end to the match, but Steven Gerrard’s side got the job done at Pittodrie for the second time this season.
Ryan Kent regained his early-season form that saw him score the clincher in the opening game of the season against the Dons, and was denied another by a great save by Joe Lewis.
But Lewis could not keep out a great first half finish from the Colombian striker, and was left exposed for the striker's second, but did witness a rarity when James Tavernier missed a penalty – his tenth opportunity from the spot this season - and his first miss.
Ryan hedges saw red for the challenge on Morelos that led to the spot-kick, but even with ten men the Dons asked Rangers’ defence questions and Allan McGregor denied Jonny Hayes with a great save just after the break.
But Rangers still went on to manage the game and register their 15th straight league victory – even if they conceded their sixth goal of the season. Here’s how the Rangers players rated using our usual performance scale.
Player ratings scale - 10: One of best performances you've seen. 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7: Good. 6: Average. 5: Poor, 4: Very poor. 3: Terrible day at office. 2: Abysmal. 1: One of worst performances you've seen.

9. Alfredo Morelos - 9
Colombian comes alive against Aberdeen and took both his goals well after a slow start. Also earned the penalty and held his nerve in physical battles with Considine and Taylor which he won. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group

10. Joe Aribo - 6
Should have keep track of Kennedy for the second-half goal and eased off in the second half. Did link up well with Hagi, Morelos and Kent sporadically. Photo: SNS Group

11. Ryan Kent - 8
Much improved and more like his early season form and earlier visit to Pittodrie. Bursting from the midfield, putting Dons on the back-foot, a constant danger. Only missing a goal and went close on 55 mins when denied by a great save. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

12. Steven Gerrard
Picked a team to get the job done and won't complain at a 22-point league advantage, but will be concerned by the second-half dip which allowed Aberdeen back in. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
