The runaway leaders were pegged back in the second half by Matty Kennedy’s response from ten-man Aberdeen for a nervous end to the match, but Steven Gerrard’s side got the job done at Pittodrie for the second time this season.
Ryan Kent regained his early-season form that saw him score the clincher in the opening game of the season against the Dons, and was denied another by a great save by Joe Lewis.
But Lewis could not keep out a great first half finish from the Colombian striker, and was left exposed for the striker's second, but did witness a rarity when James Tavernier missed a penalty – his tenth opportunity from the spot this season - and his first miss.
Ryan hedges saw red for the challenge on Morelos that led to the spot-kick, but even with ten men the Dons asked Rangers’ defence questions and Allan McGregor denied Jonny Hayes with a great save just after the break.
But Rangers still went on to manage the game and register their 15th straight league victory – even if they conceded their sixth goal of the season. Here’s how the Rangers players rated using our usual performance scale.
Player ratings scale - 10: One of best performances you've seen. 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7: Good. 6: Average. 5: Poor, 4: Very poor. 3: Terrible day at office. 2: Abysmal. 1: One of worst performances you've seen.

5. Connor Goldson - 7
Passing range, as ever, a potent threat and like Balogun coped with Cosgrove but will be ruing his decision to stand off Hayes at the Dons goal. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

6. Steven Davis - 8
Midfield lynchpin held it together when times got nervy and was the one bursting back to try to deny Kennedy for the goal. Experience is so key to Steven Gerrard's team. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group

7. Glen Kamara - 7
Usual smooth performance from the midfielder who showed for the ball at the right times and could have scored with a late chance and eased nerves. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group

8. Ianis Hagi - 7
Unlucky with a dipping blast from range after seven minutes and faded after a bright start and played in spells, perhaps eclipsed by his fellow attackers Kent and Morelos, but not a bad showing. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
