How to watch Rangers v Annan in the Scottish Cup
Rangers will look to avoid a repeat of last season’s huge Scottish Cup upset when they host Annan Athletic in the fourth round on Friday night.
The Ibrox side suffered one of the worst results in their history when they crashed out of the competition at the fifth round stage last February, losing 1-0 at home to Championship side Queen’s Park in the final throes of Philippe Clement’s reign.
A repeat against part-timers Annan, currently seventh in League Two, would be unthinkable for a Rangers side that is in a good place under head coach Danny Rohl. The German was appointed in October following the sacking of Russell Martin and has collected 11 wins from 14 league matches to reignite title hopes in Govan.
Rohl will now be targeting a remarkable silver double if results and performances continue to improve.
Annan, who are managed by player-boss Wullie Gibson, began their Scottish Cup campaign in the second round, where they earned a 3-2 win at Clyde, before a 4-0 win over Highland League Buckie Thistle in round three secured a money-spinning trip to Ibrox.
The Galabankies have won at Ibrox before - albeit in very different times - with goals from Ally Love and David Hopkirk sealing a famous 2-1 victory for the visitors in a League Two meeting on March 9, 2013 after Rangers were demoted to the fourth tier following liquidation.
The most recent meeting between the two sides took place in the Scottish Cup fifth round four years ago with goals from Filip Helander, Fashion Sakala and Kemar Roofe earning a comfortable 3-0 win for Rangers at Galabank Park.
