James Tavernier's Rangers future remains shrouded in uncertainty
Ibrox skipper reveals no contract talks have taken place
Rangers captain James Tavernier says he doesn’t know if he will remain at Ibrox beyond this season.
Tavernier, 34, has been at Rangers for 11 years and has been a mainstay of the club, making more than 500 appearances and scoring more than 100 goals.
However, talks have not taken place with anyone at the club over a new deal and the former Newcastle and Wigan defender says he is not sure what the future holds.

“I don't know,” said Tavernier on whether he will be a Rangers player next season. “Time will tell. Time will tell for that one. I'm a man who always focuses on the short term, day by day, especially this week. Focus on the family, focus on my football this week.
“My wife's asking me about enough summer holidays and what the kids need on their holidays. I'm saying talk to me on a later date because that's just too far ahead for me. Time will tell with this one. I'm obviously excited for what the future brings.”
Pressed if any contract negotiations have taken place, Tavernier continued: “No, not as yet. Nothing's ever a guarantee in football to play. But in football, no-one's ever guaranteed to play in the start game. You've obviously got to earn the right, which from day one since I've been playing professional football, I've always had to earn that right to start.
“Obviously this is the first time I will be out of contract, but I’m not changing that. I’ve got a hectic schedule with the family, and with football, so anything too far ahead, I can’t really think of, I just can’t process it. But when the time comes, everything will be sorted.
“I’ve got a lot to offer as a player, not slowed down, still contributing the way I have been. I believe I’ve still got at least another three or four years in the legs, hopefully longer.”
