It has been over years since Rangers confirmed the appointment of former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as their new manager, all the way back in 2018. But could he be set to make a sensational return to Ibrox?
The last Gers boss to win the Scottish Premiership trophy in Govan has emerged as one of the leading contenders to be the next Rangers boss following the sacking of Russell Martin on Sunday evening.
His stint in charge of Rangers largely successful, Gerrard’s first summer transfer window saw him recruit the likes of Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic and, perhaps less memorably, George Edmundson. In total, there were 42 players who came through the doors at Ibrox during his reign - but who offered Rangers the most?
Here we rank all 42 Rangers players signed by Gerrard from worst to best and ask - where are they now?

41. Calvin Bassey
Signed for a nominal fee from Leicester City, the defender had a quick rise to prominence at Ibrox. Powerful, fast and intelligent, Bassey is placed this high up the list for a multitude of reasons. Namely, he helped Rangers lift silverware, was a consistent performer, and was sold for a huge profit when the the club sold him for around £25 million in a megabucks move to Ajax. Now at Fulham, the defender is a regular starter in the English Premier League. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

42. Connor Goldson
Winner of every domestic honour during his time at the club, Goldson's six year association with Rangers ended last summer with a move to Aris Limassol in Cyprus. Reported to have cost the club just £3 million, the Midlands born centre-back was an excellent servant to the club, and a real bargain. Awarded the John Greig Achievement Award due to his commitment and dedication to the club, the club stated Goldson was "an example both on and off the pitch." He has competition, but we are ranking him as the best signing of the Gerrard era. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group
