The Scottish Premiership window is now slammed shut until the new year after a hectic summer transfer window at Rangers under new manager Derek McInnes.
A total of 14 new players arrived following McInnes’ appointment in the summer, with Lawrence Shankland, Dan Neil and Olwethu Makhanya headlining a major overhaul of Rangers’ squad.
Back-to-back wins over Celtic have reinvigorated the Rangers support after an extremely tough start to the season, and supporters are now hoping they can finally dethrone their fierce Glasgow rivals come the end of the campaign in May.
While the window is closed, the free agent market could still play a part for many other Scottish Premiership clubs before January, with several players still available on free transfers. But how many free agents are Rangers stars of the past?
Here are 10 former Rangers players available for free and searching for new clubs this season.

5. Barrie McKay
The Rangers academy product played a major role in the club's growth from the third tier back to the Scottish Premiership. McKay will likely always be remembered for a stunning long-range effort in a Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic at Hampden Park. Put himself on the cusp of a Scotland recall during an impressive spell at Hearts in 2021, but his form deteriorated as injury took hold. Now 31, he spent six months at Livingston last season, but exited Almondvale in the summer and is yet to find a new club. | SNS Group

6. Ovie Ejaria
Labelled 'the English Pogba' during his Liverpool academy graduate days, he was tipped for stardom when he arrived on loan from the Anfield giants. His tenure at Ibrox was a failure, though, and the loan was abruptly cut short to allow him to join Reading. He made over 100 appearances for the Royals before leaving by mutual consent in December 2023. He then spent over two years out of the game before signing a short-term contract with Real Oviedo. He made just eight appearances for the Spanish club and left this summer. Three months on, he is still searching for a new club. | SNS Group

7. Ryan Jack
The Rangers fan favourite played a huge role in their invincible title win under Steven Gerrard in 2021, but struggled to continue there on in due to a succession of injuries. A member of Scotland's squad at the European Championship in 2021 and 2024, he made a surprise move to the Turkish second tier when his Ibrox contract expired two summers ago, signing for Esenler Erokspor. After two years in Istanbul, the 34-year-old returned to Scotland with his family, but remains a free agent. | SNS Group

8. Ryan Kent
An extremely talented winger on his day, Kent's inconsistency played a major role in his departure from the club when his contract expired in the summer of 2023. A short and unsuccessful period under Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce followed, before he left by mutual consent to sign for Seattle Sounders in the MLS. After not scoring in 21 appearances, Kent exited the American side in December 2025 and has been without a club since. | SNS Group
