Scotland are on the lookout for their next manager after Steve Clarke’s surprise decision to resign from his role as head coach after the team’s elimination from the World Cup.
Despite signing a four-year contract on the eve of the tournament, the 62-year-old opted to leave for pastures new after a failure to lead Scotland out of the group stages for the third consecutive tournament.
The first manager to take Scotland to three major tournaments, Euro 2020, Euro 2024 and this summer’s World Cup, his side were magnificent in the qualifying stages but struggled to replicate it in North America before officially exiting the tournament at the weekend.
So who is the early favourite to succeed Clarke as Scotland’s manager? Here are the latest odds*.

9. Darren Fletcher - 12/1
A Scotland captain and legend, he took interim charge of Manchester United last season, but has no managerial experience outside of that. A highly rated coach at Old Trafford, he'd be a high risk, but potential high reward, appointment. His son Tyler would likely approve. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

10. Scott Brown - 10/1
With a 33 per cent win ratio across his spells in charge of Fleetwood Town and Ayr United, the former Celtic icon is yet to replicate his success on the pitch in the dugout. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

11. Steven Naismith - 15/2
Could the current assistant step up into a full time role as manager? Found success with Hearts, leading them to third place in his first full season in charge, but struggled therein and was sacked shortly afterwards. He hasn't managed since leaving Tynecastle. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

12. John McGlynn - 11/2
Has worked wonders at Falkirk over the last three seasons. One of Scotland's most highly rated coaches, would he be prepared to jump ship in order to lead the national team? It seems plausible. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group
