Hearts have enjoyed a season to remember so far, having led at the top of the Scottish Premiership since September.
The club opted to strengthen their squad further by acquiring Rogers Mato, Jordi Altena, Islam Chesnokov, and Marc Leonard as they aim to keep themselves ahead of Rangers and Celtic, who are breathing down their neck just below them at the Scottish Premiership summit.
As it often does, the arrival of new faces meant that several players also departed during the January window, with the likes of Sander Kartum, Zander Clark, and James Wilson all leaving in the winter transfer window, while many others were already out on loan across different clubs.
Here we look at the 12 Hearts players who are currently on loan away from the club, and assess how they have done for their new teams this season. Who has impressed away from Tynecastle - and who is perhaps regretting their decision to leave?

1. Macauley Tait - Livingston
Moved to Livingston on a season-long loan deal in the summer in order to play more regular first-team football, and has done just that. While he side are rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership, he has made 22 starts and registered three assists for Marvin Bartley's side. | SNS Group

2. Adam Forrester - St Johnstone
A prominent feature in the Hearts matchday squad last season, the young right-back moved to St Johnstone in the summer on loan in order to gain regular senior minutes. After originally struggling to break into the team upon arrival, he's been a regular starter and kept his place at right-back for Simo Valakari's side since November. The Saints currently sit five points clear at the top of the Championship and look destined for promotion. | SNS Group

3. James Wilson - Tottenham Hotspur under-21s
A shock departure on deadline day, the teenager frontman moved to North London, where he's expected to mainly feature for the club's academy side. Made his Spurs academy debut in a 4-0 win over Birmingham City in the Premier League 2 division, but had just 20 touches before he was taken off with just over 10 minutes to play. He had better luck in his second game, though, scoring just a minute after his introduction to the pitch in a 4-1 win over Norwich City. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group

4. Bobby McLuckie - East Kilbride
After spending the first half of the campaign with Hamilton, the 19-year-old winger moved to League Two table toppers East Kilbride in January. Since his move to K-Park, he's been in scintillating form, scoring four and assisting a further four in his first six matches. | SNS Group
