Daizen Maeda scored an early double as Celtic moved into the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory over Hibs.
Mykola Kuharevich pulled a goal back for Hibs before half-time, but the visitors paid the price for a poor attempt to play the ball out from the back as Nicolas Kuhn restored Celtic’s two-goal lead.
Maeda started up front as a stand-in striker after Japan team-mate Kyogo Furuhashi dropped out with the shoulder injury he suffered during Celtic’s 2-0 win over Hibs the previous weekend. Adam Idah started on the bench following his big-money move from Norwich.
We give each player a mark out of ten for their performance at Parkhead.

17. James Forrest - 7
Age-defying performance from the 33 y/o who looked as quick and sharp as he did in his 20s. One driving run through the heart of the Hibs defence in the first half led to a Celtic penalty shout. Replaced in second half. | SNS Group

18. Josh Campbell - 5
A honest performance from the midfielder but almost all of his energy was spent chasing the ball around the pitch. Hard work but not enough guile to bring himself or others into the game. | SNS Group

19. Nicolas Kuhn - 8
Did Celtic sign a new winger this summer? The German looks twice the player who arrived in January and this was another electric performance. Gave Jordan Obita a torrid time and got his reward for relentless pressing by catching out the Hibs goalkeeper from a passback to score Celtic's third. | SNS Group

20. Martin Boyle - 4
Played a terrific free-kick delivery for Hibs goal in what was his only telling involvement of the game. Whether the issue is tactics, service, or Boyle himself, Hibs simply cannot afford one of their supposed star players to be so anonymous. | SNS Group
