A number of Scotland internationalists could be on the move in the January transfer window ahead of an important year for the national side.
Last summer's window saw plenty activity involving members of Steve Clarke's squad with Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour completing big moves to Napoli from Manchester United and Brighton respectively. Che Adams joined them in Serie A by moving from Southampton to Torino while Scott McKenna pitched up in La Liga with Las Palmas after leaving Nottingham Forest.
Lyndon Dykes completed a switch from Queens Park Rangers to Birmingham City while Stuart Armstrong moved across the pond to join Ryan Gauld at Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS after departing Southampton. Ryan Jack found himself in the Turkish second tier with Erokspor following his Rangers exit while Liam Cooper ended a decade at Leeds United by joining CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria.
Who else could join them in switching clubs this month? Clarke will certainly be keeping an eye on any potential transfers involving his squad ahead of a big year for Scotland with a Nations League play-off against Greece in March followed by the start of World Cup 2026 qualifiers in September.
Here are 10 Scotland players to watch in the January window...

5. Lawrence Shankland
The currently injured Hearts captain is out of contract at the end of the season, making the January window the last opportunity for the Tynecastle club to cash in on the Scotland striker. Previously valued at £5m, any transfer fee would be heavily discounted due to his expiring deal and the fact that his goalscoring form has diminished this season. Rangers have been heavily linked in the past but are unlikely to make a move in January. Shankland could, however, sign a pre-contract deal with another club this month that would see him depart Hearts for nothing in the summer. | SNS Group

6. Ryan Porteous
Reports claim that the Scotland defender has become unsettled at Watford despite featuring regularly in the English Championship this season. Hull City are said to have made an offer for the centre-back while rumours are also swirling of potential interest from Rangers, despite his chequered history with the Ibrox club. Porteous was dropped to the bench for Watford's weekend defeat to Sheffield United having also been withdrawn at half-time against Cardiff City on December 29. 7. Lewis Ferguson
The Scotland midfielder has been tipped to make a huge move to Italian giants Inter Milan this month, with reports claiming the San Siro outfit are ‘considering’ launching a €20million bid for the Bologna captain. Ferguson was ruled out of Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 squad after suffering an ACL injury last April, but has returned to skipper Bologna over the last few weeks. He only recently agreed a new deal with Bologna, but was also linked with a switch to AC Milan last month after reportedly being identified by club advisor - and Swedish football legend - Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a priority target. | Getty Images

8. Andy Irving
The West Ham midfielder has yet to be capped by Scotland at senior level but received his first call-up to Steve Clarke's squad for the Nations League matches in October. He joined the Hammers from Austrian side Klagenfurt in the summer but has made only six substitute appearances in the Premier League this season. Reports claim Celtic are interested in signing the former Hearts man in January with clubs in England and Germany also monitoring him. With more regular game-time, the 24-year-old will hoping to make a strong push to earn his first cap in the coming year. | Arsenal FC via Getty Images
