A90: Major road between Dundee and Aberdeen to close for 'emergency repairs'

The road was blocked earlier today due to a fallen power line.

A major road between Dundee and Aberdeen will shut temporarily on Thursday afternoon for “emergency repairs” to overhead power lines.

Drivers have been told the A90 will be closed in both directions between Laurencekirk and Stonehaven, near to Fordoun, for up to 30 minutes between 3.30pm and 4.30pm

Police have urged drivers to use the A92 instead.

The A90 was restricted earlier after fallen power cables blocked the road amid high winds.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds impacting central, southern and north-east Scotland until 8pm Thursday.

Police confirmed there are no reported injuries and have thanked drivers for their patience.
