Edinburgh Airport: New flights from Edinburgh to Red Sea city famous for all-year sun and golden beaches

Scots will be able to fly with the budget airline to Sharm-El-Sheikh from next winter.

EasyJet has announced new flights from Edinburgh to a coastal city on the Red Sea famous for its pristine beaches.

The flights to Sharm-El-Sheikh in Egypt will run from November 10 next year, operating weekly on Tuesdays throughout the winter.

EasyJet is the second airline to announce it to the coastal Egyptian city from Edinburgh this month, with Jet2 starting operations in February 2027.

EasyJet also announced last month it would launch twice-weekly flights between Glasgow and Sharm-El-Sheikh in August next year.

Sharm-El-Sheikh is set on the southern tip of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, and is now one of the most popular holiday spots in Egypt.

Its resorts, set on golden beaches and crystal-clear waters, are a top choice for sun-and-sea holidays.

It boasts warm temperatures all year round, making it a prime spot for those seeking winter sun.

The area is known for its exceptional marine life, with a huge variety of exotic fish and colourful coral reefs, which can be enjoyed while snorkelling and scuba-diving.

It also offers a lively dining and entertainment scene, packed with restaurants, lively bars, and cafés.

Kevin Doyle, EasyJet's UK Country Manager, said: “It's great to be able to offer our customers yet another new route and even more choice for a package holiday from Edinburgh with our new service to Sharm-El-Sheikh, providing Scottish travellers with a convenient, direct connection for those seeking year-round sunshine.

“This is the 12th new route we’ve added to our Edinburgh network this year, and we remain focused on offering even greater connectivity for customers in Scotland, along with fantastic service and great value fares.”

Stephanie Wear, Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh Airport, said: “We know winter sun is a big attraction for people looking to get away and unwind when it gets a wee bit colder here in Scotland, and destinations like Sharm-El-Sheikh offer exactly that sunshine and warmth.

“It’s another fantastic addition to EasyJet’s schedule, and we look forward to seeing it on the departures board next year.”
