Glasgow Airport: New flights to ‘bucket list’ destinations in 2026

EasyJet has announced new summer services from Glasgow

EasyJet has revealed four new routes from Glasgow to Malta, Italy, Portugal and Egypt starting next year, in a further expansion of the city airport’s network.

The airline announced new summer services from Glasgow to Malta, Pisa, Lisbon and Sharm El Sheikh, as well as a new route from Inverness to Birmingham.

The announcement comes just days after WestJet, one of Canada’s largest airlines, also announced new direct flights to Toronto from Glasgow Airport set to begin in May.

The new flights to the Portuguese capital, one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe, will operate twice-weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays from March 29 next year.

Flights to Pisa and Sharm El Sheikh will start on August 1 , flying twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Wednesdays and Saturdays respectively. Holiday-makers can already fly from Glasgow to Sharm El Sheik with Tui.

The new Mediterranean route to Malta will start from August 4, running on Tuesdays and Fridays. Jet2 also run flights from Glasgow to Malta.

Another new service, from Inverness to Birmingham, will fly on Mondays and Fridays from March 30. It is designed to boost connectivity between the Highlands and the UK’s major cities.

Inverness previously had direct flights to Birmingham with Loganair, but these were axed at the start of last year alongside its Dublin service.

Dan Mason, Inverness Airport manager, said he was “delighted” to see the return of the service.

He said: “This is a route our passengers have consistently told us they wanted to see return and we’re pleased to see that connectivity restored for the Highlands.

“Birmingham offers something for everyone, from the Bullring and the Jewellery Quarter to world-class culture, family attractions and major sporting venues.

“It also provides access to Birmingham Airport’s extensive international network, opening up even more travel options for business and leisure.”

Kevin Doyle, easyJet UK country manager, said: “These new routes from Glasgow and Inverness not only provide a fantastic range of destinations and more connectivity for our customers in Scotland, they also play an important role in supporting Scotland’s visitor economy and enhancing direct connectivity for European travellers eager to experience all that Scotland has to offer.”

Chris Tibbett, aero director at AGS Airports, said: “Enhancing our connectivity with major European cities is a key priority, so it's particularly pleasing to see Lisbon and Pisa added to the over 40 destinations now served by easyJet from Glasgow.

“Both Sharm El Sheikh and Malta are two hugely popular destinations and all four routes will provide passengers with even greater choice."

Flights on the new routes for next summer are now available to book.
