Fly-tipping has hit record levels in the UK, with 1.26 million incidents recorded in 2024-25 and reports of large-scale illegal dumps making headlines.
It’s a majoy headache for councils, who end up spending millions on the mess left by selfish tippers who refuse to dispose of their rubbish legally.

They found that only Fife still offers a free collection service, while many of the other councils’ charges have increased significantly over the last year - the most expensive charge is up by 12.36 per cent.
