84% of Scots want to buy more Scottish products and research from The Knowledge Bank, Scotland Food & Drink’s insights hub, has revealed the top 10 brands that consumers associate with Scottish provenance.
The findings, conducted as part of The Knowledge Bank’s provenance insights, surveyed more than 1,000 Scots and found a mix of product, retailer and certification brands were voted the most recognisable for their Scottish credentials.
Carol Saunders, head of insights at The Knowledge Bank, said: “With so many of us keen to support Scottish producers, brands that champion their provenance can cement their place regularly in shoppers’ baskets and ultimately grow. It’s great to see consumers recognising retailers and quality brand marks as well as producers.
“While these are the well-known brands we associate with Scotland, many up and coming producers across the country have created products that are deeply linked to Scottish heritage and have earned a place in consumers’ kitchens.
“If we work together as producers, retailers and leadership bodies, there’s a bright future ahead for the Scottish food and drink sector.”
