The Ivy Asia to open first Scottish restaurant as The Ivy Collection unveils ‘major new dining destination’

A new dining destination is opening this autumn as The Ivy Asia makes its Scottish debut.

The Ivy Asia will open its first Scottish restaurant in Glasgow this autumn, with The Ivy on Buchanan Street set to move to a new home.

The new Ivy Asia destination at 30-40 St Vincent Place will bring the two dining concepts together under one roof, with The Ivy Asia Glasgow opening for the first time in Scotland and The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie relocating from its current Buchanan Street home.

The move will create 90 new hospitality jobs and expand The Ivy Collection’s offering to more than 440 covers in the heart of Glasgow's city centre, with 351 at The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie and 96 at The Ivy Asia Glasgow.

The final service at The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie at Buchanan Street will take place on Friday 4 October before the milestone move to its new St Vincent Place venue. The Ivy Brasserie will continue to offer premium all-day dining seven days a week, from breakfast and brunch through to lunch, dinner and cocktails.

The Ivy Asia Glasgow will be the headline new arrival, bringing the brand's Asian-inspired dining concept to Scotland for the first time, with, the team say, “vibrant flavours, theatrical dining and a high-energy atmosphere.”

The two restaurants will sit within one of Glasgow's most striking historic buildings, located between George Square and Buchanan Street. Dating from 1870–1873, the building was originally constructed for the City of Glasgow Bank during a period when Glasgow was one of the world's major commercial centres. It was designed by celebrated Scottish architect John Burnet Sr., whose work also includes Glasgow's Stock Exchange and Merchants' House.

Its spectacular former banking hall was inspired by Renaissance Florence, featuring a soaring glass dome, Ionic columns, symmetrical arcades and ornate leaded glazing.

The new destination will give The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie a substantially larger setting while introducing The Ivy Asia's distinctive dining experience to the city, with both concepts designed to become a central part of Glasgow's renowned food and drink scene.

Kate Cooper, restaurant operating officer for the North, said: “This is a really significant moment for The Ivy in Glasgow. We're bringing The Ivy Asia to Scotland for the first time while giving The Ivy Brasserie a new home in one of the city's most spectacular buildings.

“Glasgow has an incredible food and drink scene and a strong sense of identity, so it was important that this next chapter felt genuinely part of the city. St Vincent Place gives us the opportunity to do that while creating something new for both existing guests and people discovering The Ivy for the first time.”

The opening will also see Olivia Wong take on the role of senior general manager at The Ivy Glasgow, overseeing both dining concepts as they launch at St Vincent Place.

Ms Wong said: “St Vincent Place is an incredible setting for the exciting next chapter of The Ivy in Glasgow. We're bringing something completely new to the city with The Ivy Asia, while giving our Brasserie guests a bigger home to enjoy.

“We're proud to have been part of Glasgow's dining scene and this move gives us the chance to build on that, bringing more people through the doors and creating a destination that feels right at home in the city.”

The opening forms part of a wider change for the St Vincent Place and Buchanan Street sites, with more to be confirmed soon.

Further details on The Ivy Asia Glasgow and The Ivy Glasgow Brasserie, including opening dates, menus and first-look images, will be announced in the coming weeks. Guests can sign up to The Ivy Asia Glasgow newsletter to be among the first to hear about opening news and updates.
