Celebrity Traitors 2026: Watch the moment Richard E. Grant's Traitor admission causes chaos in the castle - to the astonishment of Joe Lycett

It was the standout moment of the first episode and could see one of the biggest names go home early.
Yesterday (Thursday, October 1) saw the return of one of the most talked-about shows in British television, with the first series of the second series of Celebrity Traitors dropping on BBC One.
Last year saw Traitor Alan Carr schemed his way to a memorable victory after somehow outwitting an all-star cast including Stephen Fry, Celia Imrie, Jonathan Ross and Nick Mohammed.
A total of 21 famous faces have now entered the Traitors Castle in Scotland hoping to win a big cash prize for their nominated charity, including the likes of Richard E. Grant, Ross Kemp, Bella Ramsey, James Blunt, Maya Jama, James Acaster and Michael Sheen.
The first 75 minute-long episode was packed with talking points as actor Richard E. Grant and television host Maya Jama were selected to be Traitors.
But the most jaw-dropping moment came just after the Traitor-picking round table, when Joe Lycett asked Richard E. Grant: “What are you?”
Instead of the usual steely-eyed insistence on Faithful status, the national treasure replied that he was a Traitor - not once but twice.
Cue confused silence followed by nervous laughter, with singer James Blunt quipping: “It’s an interesting angle, you need to be very clear that you’re not.”
Here’s the moment Richard E. Grant turned the game on its head.
Grant and fellow-Traitor Maya Jama have now cooked up a plot to try and get him off the hook - selecting his two biggest accusers to plead their case to become a Traitor.
It will see one of University Challenge host Amol Rajan and comedian James Acaster be the first Traitors casualty, while the other will make a switch the the darkside.
You can see what will happen on BBC One tonight (Friday, September 2) at 8pm.
