High street giant with 760 stores to open in former Debenhams site in Scottish shopping centre

“Bringing a much-loved brand into such a prominent space reflects the continued demand we’re seeing from both retailers and shoppers” – Gary Turnbull, centre director

Discount retailer B&M is to open a new store in the former Debenhams unit within Stirling’s Thistles Shopping Centre.

Expected to open this winter, the new outlet marks a major milestone in the ongoing transformation of one of the mall’s largest retail spaces.

The B&M store promises an extensive range of homeware, food, health and beauty and seasonal products as well as DIY essentials, toys, games and gifts.

Centre bosses said the arrival of B&M was expected to create additional jobs for the Stirling community, providing a boost to the local economy ahead of the peak festive season.

Gary Turnbull, centre director at Thistles, said: “We’re pleased to confirm that B&M will be joining Thistles later this year, taking space within the former Debenhams unit.

“This is a really positive step for the centre. Bringing a much-loved brand into such a prominent space reflects the continued demand we’re seeing from both retailers and shoppers, as well as the progress we’re making in evolving the offer at Thistles.

“With strong footfall and continued investment, our focus is on ensuring the centre continues to meet the needs of our visitors, and B&M will play an important role in that ahead of our busiest trading period.”

Thistles is home to more than 70 shops and cafes. Established in 1977 and expanded over the years, the centre has become a major shopping destination for those in Stirling and the surrounding areas.

B&M operates from some 760 high street and out-of-town sites across the UK.

A spokesperson for B&M Thistles Stirling added: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”
