Popular central Scotland shopping centre pledges more upgrades for its six million visitors
“The performance of Thistles over the past year reflects the strength of the centre” – Mark Hewett
One of the largest shopping centres in central Scotland has welcomed almost six million visitors after a 3.9 per cent increase in footfall.
Bosses at the Thistles in Stirling said the solid performance for 2025 came alongside continued investment in the centre’s retail offering, infrastructure and long-term performance. By comparison, overall shopping centre footfall across Scotland fell by 1.5 per cent in 2025.
The mall is said to have seen strong momentum across its retail mix, with six new major tenants opening their doors in 2025. Established in 1977, Thistles houses some 70 shops and cafes.

Throughout 2025, in the region of £6 million was invested by the landlord and tenants in major works projects. This commitment to ongoing maintenance and improvement was evidenced by the re-opening of Thistles’ car park following a £3.5m investment. Further improvements are now underway at the sister Marches car park where some £450,000 in investment will see lighting upgraded throughout.
Mark Hewett, director at Scoop Asset Management, said: “The performance of Thistles over the past year reflects the strength of the centre, the resilience of the location and our long-term commitment to investment.
“Continued growth in footfall, the introduction of high-quality new retailers and significant capital investment across the asset demonstrate sustained confidence in Thistles as a leading regional shopping destination.”
