Edinburgh property firm scaling up with move to larger Leith base
“Having everyone in one place helps us build on the positive momentum we’ve created” – Lewis Mallen, MD
Property business Northwood Edinburgh has relocated to a larger base in the city following a period of “substantial” growth.
The move to Timber Bush in Leith is said to mark a major milestone for the franchise business as its team expands to 18 staff and it continues to build momentum across Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and the surrounding areas.
The new office brings the combined Stockbridge and Leith teams under one roof. Northwood will continue to operate a smaller staff presence from its Stockbridge location, maintaining visibility on the area’s bustling main drag.

One of the key driving factors of the firm’s recent expansion has been the development of its estate agency sales function, supported by an ongoing partnership with Sales Geek Scotland, which delivers sales leadership, training, mentoring and consultancy to businesses across the country.
Lewis Mallen, managing director of Northwood Edinburgh, said: “We’ve now outgrown both of our existing offices, so moving into a larger space in Leith allows us to bring the team together under one roof, which is a big step forward for our team ethos.
“Having everyone in one place helps us build on the positive momentum we’ve created, while also making it easier for contractors and partners to work with us. This move gives us the platform to continue growing into the business we know we can be. The team is expanding, and we’re excited about what comes next.”
The firm’s estate agency arm has risen from 3 per cent to around 10 per cent of total revenues, with lettings continuing to operate strongly with 700 managed properties.
Mallen added: “Working with Sales Geek Scotland has helped us strengthen our approach to recruitment, structure and processes across the sales function.
“They’ve helped us introduce clearer reporting and ways of working that have made a real difference day to day. It’s had a broader impact than we initially expected and has supported the progress we’ve made as a team.”
Northwood said it was seeing stronger conversion, growing momentum and an increasing share of higher-value properties, including those over £1 million.
