For everyone sharing their Spotify Wrapped - you're braver than me
It’s that time of year again, where we reveal the darkest secrets of our soul to the world as Spotify Wrapped and Apple Replay are released.

I have never admired anyone more than that one person who confidentially, and on a public platform, tells the entire world what music they have been listening to the most this year.
Honestly, that is impressive and courageous and something you would never in a million years catch me doing.
I have Apple, not Spotify, but other types of phone and music app are available. You can even rock old school and buy a CD, tape or vinyl - if you have something to play it on, or if you want to look cool and interesting in front of your pals.

For those who don’t know, you can now get a comprehensive “wrap” of all the music you listen to throughout the year - the most listened to artist, album, song. It’s all there in its bluescreen glory, the emotional journey your year took.
It can be a joyful thing to look at, or comical, remembering that time you first listened to West End Girl by Lily Allen and messaged everyone you’d ever met to talk about it.
Or the spiritual awakening when you heard Lux by Rosalía for the first time and knew that nothing would ever be the same. That the way you saw the world had changed.
But it can also be tough. Seeing that low point in July when it felt like everything was going wrong and you started listening to the Muppets Christmas Carol soundtrack on repeat, despite the blazing sunshine outside.
Or a period of grieving at the start of the year and it was a single Nina Simone song that got you through.
Music is far too emotional to be so plainly and bluntly laid out in front of you, and the idea of then sharing those moments with the world....goodness me no.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it’s a shameful thing. I don’t think there’s a problem with every single person on the planet having Taylor Swift as their most listened to artist.
Music is beautiful and unifying and bonding, and I think whatever music speaks to you is important, and the emotions they bring are worthy.
I just don’t know if I’m able to re-live all those emotions in one moment, much less share them with the world.
