With Spotify Wrapped almost here, it is time for users to update their apps to avoid missing out.

Spotify Wrapped is almost here, with the streaming platform advising users that now is the time to update their apps.

After dropping some major hints as to when Wrapped 2025 will be released earlier this week, Spotify have now shared a post telling listeners to “warm up before Wrapped”.

If Wrapped follows the pattern of previous years, it will be released on Wednesday, December 3 – which could mean that users have less than a day to make sure that their app is up to date. If your app isn’t updated, you will be unable to access the full Spotify Wrapped experience.

If you want to avoid missing out ahead of Wrapped being released, here is how to update your Spotify app.

How to update Spotify ahead of Wrapped 2025

This process is fairly straightforward, though it will vary slightly depending on if you are an Apple or Android user.

How to update Spotify on mobile:

  1. To update Spotify, first visit either the Apple App Store, for iPhones, or the Google Play Store, for Androids.
  2. You can then either visit your app library, or more simply search the relevant store for the Spotify app.
  3. When you find the correct app, check and see if you are already on the latest version or if there are any updates available.
  4. If there are updates waiting, simply hit “update” and wait for it to download.
  5. Once updated, all you need to do is wait!

If there aren’t any updates to be found, don’t worry. It’s likely that you have automatic updates turned on and as such, the app will keep itself running on the latest version.

Why update the Spotify app?

While you can access some of Spotify’s additional features and experiences such as Wrapped via desktop, these are typically designed for mobile and simply function better on the app.

Plus features such as lossless listening, mixing tools, being able to exclude items from your taste profile, Messages and more need the latest version of Spotify to run.

So if you ever notice your app lagging, or connections between devices being slow or buggy, make sure that the app is up to date first.
