Fresh from winning the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Drama’ for its fourth season, Slow Horses is about to return to television screens for its fifth outing.
Based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Heron, the show follows the adventures of a group of failed special agents who have been put under the supervision of Jackson Lamb, played by Gary Oldham.
It also stars Scottish actor Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, who was a hotly tipped agent before a training-exercise blunder sent him to the purgatory of Slough House. He very much sees himself as a James Bond figure - with Lowden ironically in the running to play the world’s most famous spy in the next big screen outing.
The show has been a huge success, with season four earning a rare 100 per cent critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

When is the first episode of Slow Horses season 5 out?
The first episode will be released on Wednesday, September 24, at 8am UK time - so you can catch it before breakfast.
In a bonus for binge viewers the second episode will be released at the same time.
How many episodes are there in Season 5 of Slow Horses?
As with the other four series, there will be six episodes in the new season of Slow Horses.
When will the remaining episodes of Season 5 of Slow Horses be released?
The remaining four episodes will be released every Wednesday on a weekly basis at 8am UK time. That means that the final episode will be released on Wednesday, October 22.
