Here is everything we know about Line of Duty series seven so far.
Line of Duty is one step closer to returning to our screens as readthroughs for series 7 begin.
It has been almost five years since the most recent season of Jed Mercurio’s hit crime thriller was released by the BBC, with new episodes confirmed in late 2025.
Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar will all reprise their roles, with new cast members including Robert Carlyle.
Filming is due to begin this spring, so here is everything we know about Line of Duty series 7 so far.
What is Line of Duty series 7 about?
Line of Duty series seven begins with AC-12 having been disbanded, and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards.
With anticorruption work now more challenging than ever, Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming and Ted Hastings are assigned their most sensitive case yet.
Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a charismatic officer winning plaudits for a string of takedowns of organised crime, is accused of abusing his position of trust to act as a sexual predator. That’s where Detective Constable Shaun Massie comes in.

Played by Carlyle, the Specialist Rifle Officer (SRO) is a veteran marksman, operating under Gough. Typically a man who keeps to himself, this changes drastically when the accusations emerge.
But is Gough’s case a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows?
