So yes, Line of Duty will return even if we don’t yet know when the new season will be released. What we do know is the focus of the new episodes.
In series seven, AC-12 has been disbanded and is now the Inspectorate of Police Standards. With anticorruption work more difficult than ever, Steve Arnott (Compston), Kate Fleming (McClure) and Ted Hastings (Dunbar) are assigned their most sensitive case to date amid this challenging climate.
Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, a charismatic officer who has won plaudits for a string of organised crime takedowns, is accused of abusing his position of trust to act as a sexual predator.
However, as they investigate another question emerges - is Gough’s case a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the shadows?
