Golden Globe Nominations 2026 in full: Scotland-shot Frankenstein bags five nods as One Battle After Another leads way

The annual award ceremony was first held in 1944 and had become a major part of the awards season, indicating who is likely to challenge for Oscars.

In the film category Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leads the way with nine nominations, including for lead actor Leonardo Di Caprio.

It’s closely followed by Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value with eight nods and box office horror smash Sinners on seven.

And Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which was largely shot on location in Scotland, has received five nominations.

Meanwhile in the television and podcast (a new addition this year) categories, there’s plenty of British interest, with Slow Horses, Adolescence and Black Mirror up for awards.

Brits Bella Ramsey, Gary Oldman, Stephen Graham, Jude Law, Matthew Rhys, Erin Doherty, Aimme-Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs and Ashley Walters have all been nominated for acting awards, while Ricky Gervais and Brett Goldstein are up for best stand-up comedy performance.
