It may be nearly four months until the full programme is launched (June 3 to be exact) but the first tickets for this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe are now on sale.
A total of 351 shows have been announced featuring everything from some of the biggest names in standup to award-winning musicals.
The cultural feast will this year take place from August 7-31 turning the pubs, basements and lecture theatres of Scotland’s Capital into performance spaces.
Here are the 17 shows announced so far that caught our eye. You can buy tickets for all of them on the Fringe website here.

9. Garry Starr: Classic Penguins (Pleasance Grand)
One of the funniest comedy shows to delight the Fringe in recent years, Garry Starr takes a tour of classic literature by way of clowning and no-little nudity. A complete joy, it very much deserves this encore run at the cavernous Pleasance Grand. | Contributed

10. Trainspotting (Pleasance at the EICC)
This immersive take on Irvine Welsh's calssic tale of Edinburgh heroin addicts is now as much part of the Fringe as jugglers on the Royal Mile - it's sold out every single one of its nine previous runs. The audiences become part of the action in the kind of unique venue every visitor should experience. | Contributed

11. Come From Away (Assembly Ballroom)
This award-winning musical is about the spirited locals of the Canadian town of Gander and the stranded passengers who unexpectedly came together in the wake of 9/11. It'll be running for 12 shows only fron August 19-30. | Contributed

12. Daniel Sloss: Bitter
Scottish comedy's former wunderkind Daniel Sloss has become one of the biggest names in the world of comedy and is back in Edinburgh for one huge night at the Playhouse with his new show 'Bitter' on Friday, August 14. | Contributed
