Saturday Night Live made its UK debut earlier this year, with some of the country’s funniest comedians selected for the show.
Among them are plenty of familiar faces at the Edinburgh Fringe, including Scotland’s own Larry Dean and other critically acclaimed performers such as Paddy Young, Ania Magliano and Ayoade Bamgboye.
As well as cast members, this year’s festival will also see a host of SNL UK’s writers putting on shows including the likes of Chris Cantrill and Edinburgh local Ayo Adenekan.

9. Lorna Rose Treen
Previous Funniest Joke of the Fringe winner and having brought critically acclaimed shows to the Fringe in previous years, SNL UK writer Lorna Rose Treen has two shows at this year’s festival. Running at Pleasance Courtyard from August 17-23 there is Now That’s What I Call Characters, as well as her work in progress show at Monkey Barrel from August 26-30. | Contributed
10. Bella Hull
The description for Bella Hull’s show Mad Cow Disease reads “all quiet on the frontal lobe”, with the SNL UK writer to perform at the 2026 Fringe from August 3-30 at Monkey Barrel. She will also appear during Paddy Young’s A Night with the Stars. | Contributed
11. Chris Cantrill
Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Chris Cantrill received 4 stars from The Scotsman with his 2024 show Easily Swayed. Now an SNL UK writer, Cantrill will appear at this year’s festival with new show Rewilding at Monkey Barrel from August 3-30. | Contributed
