We all love a win-win, so to keep parents and kids alike happy this summer, here are 12 fun family days out in Scotland that will bring joy to the entire family.

9. For those that love a good fairytale - Stirling Castle, Stirling
For wee princes and princesses that enjoy fairytales and far-off lands, why not ignite their imagination at one of Scotland’s iconic castles? Stirling Castle brings the storybook to life with costumed characters, Renaissance-era instruments, and a palace vault where you can try on medieval garbs. It costs £10 for kids to enter and kids under 5 are allowed in for free (https://www.stirlingcastle.scot/visit/tickets). Photo: Jane Barlow

10. Looking for a ‘dino-mite’ day out? - Dino Park, Dumfries
Young people love dinosaurs, it’s just the way it is. Even though dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years, they’re still kept ‘alive’ in the hearts and minds of our little ones. So, if you fancy an encounter with a T-rex up-close and personal, then head to Dino Park near Dumfries to see replicas of the majestic beasts themselves (https://www.dinopark.co.uk/). 11. Ahoy matey, fancy ye an adventure on the high seas? - Riverside Tall Ship, Glasgow
Scotland has no shortage of beautiful nautical attractions where you and your family can board historical ships and “be the captain” for the day. In Glasgow, the ‘Tall Ship’ has been around the world four times, so if you love boats and a bit of history then this is perfect for you. It is also free to visit, although it is recommended you book if you’re in a larger group (https://thetallship.com/your-visit/). Photo: Danny Lawson

12. For young astronauts with their heads in the stars - National Museum of Flight, North Berwick
If nautical alone doesn’t do it for you, then why not try out an aeronautical display? Located in East Lothian, the National Museum of Flight is home to famous aircrafts including the infamous Concorde. You can also hear the fascinating stories behind the people who built and flew them. It costs £7.50 for a standard child’s ticket and all children under 5 are welcome for free (https://www.nms.ac.uk/national-museum-of-flight/book-tickets/). Photo: Andrew Milligan
