Oasis to play Celtic Park? Liam Gallagher hints at huge Glasgow gigs - and says the band won't play Edinburgh again
The outspoken singer took to social media this morning to ask fans what they thought about the possible concerts.
Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher has teased the prospect of his band playing a string of Glasgow dates next year.
The band played three sold out gigs at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium last year as part of a global comeback tour that came to an end in Brazil in November.
Since then the band have done little to scotch rumours that more shows would be announced, although have suggested that nothing would happen until 2027 at the earliest.
There has been speculation that they may be unveiled as Glastonbury headliners, but Liam Gallagher took to X (formerly Twitter) today to suggest that Scottish gigs are very much at the top of their minds at the moment.
He tweeted “how you feeling about us possibly playing Celtic park”, with the message prompting hundreds of excited comments after being viewed more than 300,000 times.
Oasis have a long history of playing in Glasgow, famously being ‘discovered’ by manager Alan McGee at legendary venue King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
They’ve played in the city numerous times since, with their last performance being at Hampden Park on June 29, 2005.
And asked whether they’d be playing Edinburgh again, the younger Gallagher brother was typically forthright, as he was when he called Edinburgh City Council “a bunch of snakes” for saying Oasis fans would be “rowdy” and “intoxicated”.
“Not playing there that’s for sure”, was his straight-to-the point reaction as to whether he still had ‘beef’ with Edinburgh councillors.
