First ever Porty Fringe to take place this summer at Portobello Town Hall as applications open for acts
The inaugural Porty Fringe is set to take place this August
Fringe excitement is coming to Portobello this year with the first ever edition of ‘Porty Fringe’.
The brand new arts festival will be taking place in the seaside location this summer, bringing a range of live comedy, theatre, music, spoken word, and family-friendly performances to local audiences.
Porty Fringe is a 12-day festival which will take place from August 5 until August 16 in the centre of the neighbourhood at Portobello Town Hall.

The festival will give visitors a chance to take in the Fringe energy away from the packed crowds in Edinburgh city centre.
Porty Fringe has been created by Stage Door Entertainment, which is known for its community productions and workshops, as well as the popular Porty Panto every Christmas.
Tommie Travers and Aidan O’Brien, founders of Stage Door Entertainment, said: “We’re incredibly passionate about the performing arts and wanted to create something that brings that energy right into the heart of Portobello.
“The Fringe can sometimes feel overwhelming or out of reach, so Porty Fringe is about making it accessible - giving people the chance to experience brilliant live performances on their doorstep in a welcoming, community setting.”

In its first year, Porty Fringe is hoping to create a “feel-good atmosphere” and establish itself with a bursting programme of events.
Tommie and Aiden added: “We’re excited to transform the Town Hall into a vibrant, creative hub, with bars and a lively buzz throughout the day, while being mindful of the local community and making sure the festival feels inclusive, welcoming and respectful to neighbours.
“We’re especially excited to see which performers get involved and the creativity they’ll bring - there’s something really special about discovering new work and fresh voices, and we want audiences to feel like there’s always something unexpected waiting for them.”
There is also an opportunity for both established and emerging acts to take advantage of the new festival.
Applications to take part and feature in this year’s programme are now open via the Porty Fringe website.
Tommie and Aiden said: “For performers, this is a chance to be part of something new and exciting from the very beginning.
“Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established act, we’d really encourage people to get involved - we’re building a vibrant, supportive programme and would love to include as many acts and styles as possible."
The full programme for Porty Fringe is expected to be announced in May.
